What is Sciatica?
Sciatica is one of the forms of back pain. It is a form of a leg pain which occurs in the lower back and it runs down one or both legs from the lower back. The pain comes from the pressure on sciatic nerves. The pressure is usually caused when a herniated disc or bone spur in the spine presses on the nerve. The pain from the spine radiates or travel through the buttock and the back of each leg. In addition to pressing on the sciatic nerve, injury to sciatic nerve also can cause the characteristic pain of sciatica. Despite the medical condition, sciatica is not a medical diagnosis of itself. It means that sciatica is a symptom of an underlying medical condition.
How to treat Sciatica
The most common way to treat sciatica is by taking medications and physiotherapy if it gets worse. On the other hand, using essential oils for Sciatica also can help to relieve the pain. Essential oils have been proven to be useful in relieving several chronic pains including Sciatica. Essential oils can penetrate into the muscle tissue to make the tight muscles releasing their tension causing the blood to flow in the area of tension so that the body can repair by itself. When the sciatic pain is too painful for massage, compressing the diluted essential oils to help reduce the pain. However, since essential oils are highly concentrated, they should be diluted with another carrier oil before using it. For example, you can use jojoba oil as the carrier oil. After diluting the oils, compressing them or massaging them into the back is suggested for relieving the pain.
Essential oils can be used to help relieve some chronic pains such as a headache, back pain, and stress. In addition, there are also essential oils for eczema which can help cure the inflammatory skin. Having essential oils and carrier oils in your house is highly suggested.
